Africa Jam

In the Fall of 2018, I had an internship at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. The tasks I completed fell under the Development team. These tasks consisted of grant writing/editing, writing thank you letters to financial givers and other major donors, using their database to plugin important information, and attending community events.

Africa Jam
In January of 2018, I had the outstanding opportunity to travel to Cape Town, South Africa and attend Africa Jam's summer youth camp. Africa Jam is a year-round youth outreach program and in their summer they have a summer camp. At camp, I was able to connect with the young people personally and spiritually, assist in games and activities, and teach a hip hop dance class.

"Africa Jam Youth Outreach is a non-profit, volunteer-driven, youth empowerment organization serving young people in South Africa. Africa Jam has been in existence for more than 15 years and serves more than 15,000 youth annually by providing safe alternative programs and creating opportunities for youth to unlock their potential. Life orientation and skills training, after school programs, camp experiences, and spiritual development are just a few of the programs that make up Africa Jam."
Washburn Black Box
In the Spring of 2019, I interned at Washburn High School's Blackbox Program. This program uses art and youth voice to create a theatre production about social injustices the students face and see in their everyday lives. To read more in detail about my experience, click here!

"Blackbox Theater is a social justice theatre program at Washburn High School that promotes youth voice and change in our community. Our mission is to provide a space and platform for young people to speak their mind about issues they are passionate about. We speak our minds through original theatre, spoken word, dance, movement, and poetry."

Villarreal cf, Euroace
In the summer of 2019, I had the opportunity to travel to Valencia, Spain where I did a short term internship with Villarreal CF, a professional futbol team in Spain. In my time, I completed marketing work and research that was essential for international partnerships the team works with. I was also able to take Spanish classes during my time here as well.

"Villarreal CF is a professional football club from LaLiga (Spanish League), one of the two world's best football competitions. The club is ranked Top 5 amongst clubs in Spain which includes Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
The team also competes with the best European football clubs in Europa League or Champions League competitions. Villarreal has a young and thriving managerial structure. It is accomplishing huge milestones in terms of marketing and international expansion, especially considering this club is based in the small town of Vila-real, north of Valencia. Founded in 1923 has gained international recognition after the International Federation of Football History and Statistics ranked Villarreal CF as the best club in the world in 2005."
